Barium sulfate precipitation is produced using a chemical precipitation process, which has excellent physical properties, less mechanical impurities, and uniform fineness. It is an amorphous white powder that is insoluble in water, soluble in fuming sulfuric acid, and slightly soluble in boiling hydrochloric acid. It has stable chemical properties and is reduced to barium sulfide by co heating with carbon. It does not change color when exposed to hydrogen sulfide or toxic gases in the air.
