Function and use of Lithopone

2019-10-25

Lithopone can be used in the coloring of paint, ink, rubber, etc. It is similar to zinc sulfide in structure, containing barium sulfate, and has poor durability. The resistance to powdering is poor. As a result, titanium dioxide can be used in part at a lower price.

Lithopone: white crystalline powder. It is a mixture of zinc sulfide and barium sulfate. The more zinc sulfide, the stronger the covering power and the higher the quality. Lithopone, also known as lithopone, has a density of 4.136-4.34g/cm3 and is insoluble in water. It is easy to decompose with acid and produce hydrogen sulfide gas, but it doesn't work with hydrogen sulfide and alkali solution. It turns light gray after 6-7 hours of exposure to ultraviolet light in the sun, and it still returns to its original color in the dark. It is easy to oxidize in the air and agglomerate after being affected by moisture.
